I always wondered on how to create a successful portfolio. Having them is important to showcase work to clients, companies. A digital portfolio is a place to present the best work, whilst demonstrating range of abilities and problem solving as well. The list includes rendered finish artworks, drafts, sketches etc. This allows the person who's seeing your work know how capable and skilled you are. For now, I'll be creating a portfolio for general need as long the work is in high quality and consistent. However, if i am focusing for peculiar studio, then I need to cater my portfolio for their needs. In this video below, Hardy Fowler who produces concept-like artworks provides a challenge in creating character concepts in 4 weeks. I find this as a good opportunity to explore character concept more and developing something cater towards Studio interests. I would love to develop more on my problem solving. Being able to problem solve and showcase numerous designs, expressions, assets etc. is important when working in Industries and allowing the people see how capable you are as well. Furthermore, this also helps animators and 3D developers to see different angles, materials etc.

Another video talking about creating Portfolio is a guide from Tyler Edlin. In this video he goes through examining another person's portfolio. I can see this as a potential way in developing a good portfolio. This is by sending a portfolio to a professional artists and getting feedback. Watching this video, I learned I need to be consistent in what I put on my portfolio. He also mentions about problem solving and showing lots of ideas. As I have mentioned above, it is very important to showcase being able to problem solve. Every picture doesn't have to be perfect, as long it has clear intention.

I do struggle in perfectionism, but these past few months I am trying to always finish art at 80% or 90%. This allows me to quickly finish a drawing and start a new project as well. Potential clients wants to see thought process more than a simple sketch. I am planning to develop that more in my free time, if I want to be hired in the future. Being quick and efficient is a good skill to have. I am organised and I make sure to always meet the deadline whilst being transparent as well. If something goes wrong, I'll make sure to contact the clients that there will be delays. General work skills are vital such as, communicating. When creating a portfolio for specific needs, I will take this into consideration - Problem solve, showcase thought process, rendered illustration, present your style and finally be consistent I have tried doing problem solving and though process for past university work. I have enjoyed going through different variations and I can see why it is important to showcase that.
