Progress for final render

I was able to capture some progress before I almost forgotten about taking some progress pictures. First of all, I always start of with quick thumbnail sketches and figuring out the lighting + composition. I did four potential thumbnails and all of them represented this massive flying creature. I decided to go with top right thumbnail as I felt that represented the creature well and I can expand the canvas to fit the entire body in. For the rest of thumbnails, I can use them for future artworks.

Finally I blocked the colour of the background with a gradient fill tool and used a cloud-like brush to create the puffy clouds. I also blocked in simple grey colour for the Ziotitus and slowly build my way up.

I combined the creature with photobashing to create these rocky-like textures I want for the Ziotitus. I started add more textures in the background and somewhat stylised the clouds as well. I kept adding more to it until I was satisfied with the final results.
